Welcome to Burford Town Bowls Club

...if you're looking for some gentle exercise with a competitive edge in beautiful surroundings,
come and join us, you will be glad you did...

Welcome to Burford Town Bowls Club's new website.

Burford is an historic town and the gate way to the Cotswolds. It sits just off the A40 midway between Oxford and Cheltenham. Perched at the top of the hill off Tanner's Lane, Burford Town Bowls Club sits hidden from view and has done so since it was formed in 1933.

The building itself has changed several times, but the original founders, Mr Pigott (Chairman), Mr Soanes (Secretary), Dr Cheatle (President) and Mr Porter (Treasurer) would be very proud of the Club today and their legacy.

In 2006 the club celebrated its 75th anniversary. The highlight of the year being a bowls match against the English Bowling Association, which included Mr David Bryant CBE, the former world champion, a match that Burford won!

Burford Bowls Club today is what it has always been, a welcoming club where friendly competition thrives. Today the club has approximately 50 matches, played home and away, plus club and county competitions. Most of the away games are within 25 miles of Burford, so if your looking for some gentle exercise with a competitive edge in beautiful surroundings, come and join us, you will be glad you did.

Burford Town Bowls Club

On Friday 25th May 2018 Burford Town Bowls Club played the Game Keepers.

This is a special event and has been a regular yearly fixture for many years.

Although the Game Keepers are not regular bowlers, you under estimate them at your peril, and true to form they all put in great effort again this year.

For the Burford bowlers there is only pride at stake, but for the highest scoring

Rink for the Game Keepers there is the Cyril Agg memorial trophy up for grabs.

We are very grateful to Mrs. Agg who presented the trophy to the winners, who incidentally won this competition last year.

The Cyril Agg Memorial Trophy Winners

 D. May    D. Harris    Mrs. Agg    P. Godfrey    B. Whitehead
